Life Story / Obituary

Print

Kenneth John Scott, 41, of Traverse City died unexpectedly in his home on Wednesday, November 16, 2016.

Above all else, Ken was a proud father. He enjoyed snowboarding, skateboarding, frolfing, music, movies, and nailed every video game he played. Ken had an outstanding work ethic. He was employed at Roy’s General Store and spent many years working at the Traverse City Golf & Country Club.

Ken was a constant goofball who made everyone laugh. He went out of his way to help his friends and family, and, as many will remember, to tease and torment them. Ken was a collector of all things (haha) and had a great sense of humor. Once, to be ungrounded, his son Jordan, 15 at the time, had to build a half-pipe for him – mortar and all. The professional-looking half-pipe can still be seen at Bay Hill.

Ken spent most of his life in Traverse City with his family. He even lived in his brother’s bedroom for months without his parent’s knowing. We’ll always wonder what he and his brother, Nic, did to Riley, his sister’s dog.

Ken is survived by his parents, Michaelene and Allen Scott of Traverse City, his son, Jordan Scott of Traverse City, his sisters, Jodi Crissinger of Traverse City and Julie Hansel of Grand Rapids, his girlfriend Jennifer, and countless friends, nieces, nephews, cousins, and family. Ken is preceded in death by his brother, Nic Scott.

In lieu of a traditional service, a luncheon and gathering will be held to celebrate Ken’s life on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 1:00pm at the Traverse City Church of the Nazarene, 1023 South Division Street, Traverse City.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Ken’s son, Jordan Scott, 9995 Lake Leelanau Drive, Traverse City, MI 49684. Flowers may be sent to Traverse City Church of the Nazarene.
