Scott "Scotty" Bradley Smith, age 54, of Portage, MI passed peacefully at Rose Arbor Hospice Care on July 24, 2020. He was born in Fort Worth, TX on August 20, 1965, the son of Kenneth Wayne and Janice Irene (Bradley) Smith. Scott graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1984. After a short stint in the Army; Scott began working for the City of Kalamazoo Parks and Recreation for 25 years. He was united in marriage on September 26, 1992 to his high school sweetheart, Amy Flora-Smith. After a few years, the two welcomed their only child, Hayden Bradley Smith, into the world. Known as a whimsical trivia guru, Scotty loved watching Jeopardy!, reading the dictionary, and could often be found wearing one of his old Spartan hats and reading a book in a lawn chair. His quiet, brilliant, kind persona and dry sense of humor will be greatly missed. Scotty was preceded in death by his father Kenneth Wayne Smith and is survived by his wife: Amy Flora-Smith, son: Hayden B. Smith, mother: Fontayne Bovee-Simpson [Janice Smith], sister: Kim (Brian) Smith-Varney, sister-in-law: Crystal (Allen) Bahr, in-laws: James (Norma) Flora, nieces: Alissa Bahr and Autumn Varney, and nephew: Forrest Varney. A celebration of life will be held on August 29th, 2020. Please contact the family for more information. Donations can be made to the Kalamazoo Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
