Sandra Lager

Age 80, of Richland, MI, passed away Monday, October 20, 2025, at Vibrant Life Senior Living. Sandra was born on January 6, 1945, in Muskegon, the daughter of Joseph and Phyllis (Johnson) Grams. She graduated from Muskegon High School and received her bachelor's degree in Education from Western Michigan University. Sandra taught adult education for Kalamazoo Public Schools for over 20 years. Family was the center of Sandra's life. Marathon phone conversations with her sisters, camping trips with husband, Larry, and the grandkids, Magdalena, Isabella, and Xavier, weekly Sunday dinners at their lake house with her sons Daniel and Matt, his wife Gail, and grandkids, and cuddles with her great-grandbaby Magnolia Mae were favorite times. Sandra loved people. She had conversations with strangers in grocery stores and knew the life stories of clerks at Goodwill. On August 16, 1967, Sandra was united in marriage to Larry Lager, who preceded her in death on December 29, 2023. Their marriage was filled with love. Also preceding her in death were her parents and sister (Carol Vanas). Surviving are two sons, Matthew (Gail) Lager, Daniel Lager; three grandchildren, Magdalena, Xavier, and Isabella; and one great-granddaughter, Magnolia Mae. A joint memorial service for Sandra and Larry will be held in Kalamazoo at St. Andrew Community Church, 3631 Covington Rd., Kalamazoo, MI 49001, on November 15, 2025, at 11AM.
