Sandra Elwell

Sandra L. Elwell, age 78, of Kalamazoo, MI passed away at home on August 14, 2017. Sandra was born in Paw Paw on May 17, 1939; the daughter of the late James L. and Marvlynn J. (Tyler) Hanko. On June 22, 1963, she was united in marriage to Thomas E. Elwell, who preceded her in death on November 17, 2013. Sandra was also preceded in death by her brother, Milan Graham. She was an avid life-time bowler and managed the Blue Crystal Bowling Alley for many years. Sandra also enjoyed golf, boating and dancing. For the last 3 years she lived at Hope Woods where she truly enjoyed playing cards with her girlfriends. She is survived by her children, Ronalie (John) Turcott and Stephanie Wright; grandchildren, Mathew (Alyssa) Moon, Nathan (Keely) Moon and Taylor (Joseph) Cronk; and great-granddaughters, Caitlyn and Violet Moon. Additional survivors include her siblings, Mike (Janie) Hanko, Jean (Herb) Shaffer and Madelyn (George) Patrick; aunt, Edyth Newkirk and several nieces and nephews. In accordance with her wishes cremation will take place and a gathering for friends and family will be held at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 from 6:00 8:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kalamazoo Animal Rescue Project, c/o the funeral home.
