Ruth Vande Giessen

Ruth M. Vande Giessen, age 95, of Kalamazoo, MI passed away Monday, May 1, 2017. Ruth was born in Kalamazoo on May 29, 1921; the daughter of the late Jacob and Sarah (Vermuelen) Louis. She was a 1938 graduate of Richland High School. On October 26, 1940 Ruth was united in marriage to John R. Vande Giessen who preceded her in death on October 23, 1995. She was also preceded in death by a sister and two brothers. Ruth is survived by her children, John (Shirley) Vande Giessen and Kathy (Mike) Koets; grandchildren, Stephanie Gage, John and Julie Vande Giessen, Mike A. (Necia) Koets, Katie Padron and Megan (Eric Hochman) Koets and several great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Hope Reformed Church, 910 Jenks Blvd., Kalamazoo, MI 49006, with Rev. Arthur Wiers officiating. Interment will take place at Grand Prairie Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home on Thursday, May 4, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Reformed Church, Camp Geneva or the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission, c/o the funeral home.
