Ruth H. (Barton) Lebiecki, age 90, of Kalamazoo went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, November 20, 2018. She was born on July 25,1928 in Providence, R.I. to the late Edgar & Sarah Barton. As the daughter of a Nazarene minister, Ruth moved frequently throughout the USA with her parents and older brother during her childhood. She graduated from Campbell High School in Campbell, CA. While in California, she met and married Zygmunt Lebiecki, who was stationed at the Naval base. They eventually moved to the Kalamazoo area to raise their family closer to his extended family. After her two sons were in school, she worked in the office at Carworth (Charles River Breeding Labs) before beginning her career at Old Kent Bank (American National Bank) Village Green (now Fifth Third Bank). She retired from her position as Loan Officer in 1993. Ruth was an avid sports fan; following the Tigers and Lions on TV/radio and occasionally in the stadium. She also was a devoted supporter of her sons sporting events; as well as those of her grandchildren. She rarely missed a game and kept her own scorebook at baseball/softball games and made scrapbooks for each of her grandchildren's sports. She was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Lee and Bea Barton; as well as numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. She is survived by her loving companion of 5 years, Ken Dirkse; her sons John (Cindi) Lebiecki and Ron (Tamara) Lebiecki. She is also survived by four grandchildren; Justin (Kymberly Peters) Lebiecki, Lesley (Matthew) Schofield, Megan (Corey Morris) Lebiecki, and Troy (Amber Bellazaire) Lebiecki. Also surviving are seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service to celebrate Ruth's life is scheduled for 11:00AM Saturday, December 1, 2018, with visitation beginning at 10:00AM (one hour prior to the service) at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street with Rev. Dr. Mark Jennings officiating. In lieu of flowers, please support the stray animals Ruth so often cared for by donating to Kalamazoo Animal Rescue. A special thanks to the Senior Care Partners (fka CentraCare) team who assisted with her care over the last year. Please visit Ruth's personalized guest book at www.langelands.com
