Ruth Baty

Formerly of Portage. Passed away Monday, February 17, 2020 in Indianapolis, IN. She was born June 23, 1925 in Frankfort, KY the daughter of the late Asa and Margaret (Ward) Miller. Prior to her retirement she was employed for 29 years as the office manager with the Kalamazoo County Animal Control. Ruth was an active member of Kalamazoo First Assembly, enjoyed flowers, and spending time with her family and friends. On July 23, 1948 she was united in marriage to Sherman Baty who preceded her in death in 1972. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Laura Baty; a great-grandson, Jake; her sisters and brother. Hazel Senne, Helen Scholten; and Ralph Miller. Ruth is survived by her children, Timothy (Dana) Baty, Deborah Baty; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may meet the family from 2:00-5:00pm Sunday, February 23 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services, 411 East Centre, Portage, MI 49002. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Monday, February 24 at Kalamazoo First Assembly, 5550 Oakland Dr. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery.
