Engbers, Russell H. Of Kalamazoo Psalm 1:1-3 Russ was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on January 1, 2021. He was born on June 10, 1926, in Grand Rapids, MI. He was the fourth of eight children. A graduate of Davis Tech, who later served in the Navy during WWII aboard the USS Baxter, he became an electrician in the Kalamazoo area and later started his own company, Engbers Electric. Russ married Janet (Klop) on October 17, 1947. They had five children. Russ was a faithful servant to multiple ministries in the community from Cadets, to Gospel Mission, and building wooden toy cars that have been shared with local and international missions. Russ always saw the best in everyone. He always encouraged his children and grandchildren's endeavors, cheered their successes and supported them in times of need. His family feels so blessed to have had such a great Dad, Grandpa, and Papa. Russ is survived by children: Steve (Janice) Engbers, Tim (Ronda) Engbers, Ann (John) DenHartigh, Rusty (Janet) Engbers, Jenny (Paul) Fazio, and three sisters: Annabelle Engbers, Arlene Engbers and Rose Swets. Family was cherished by Russ. He enjoyed the love and attention from 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Russ was a spiritual mentor to many and a huge blessing to hundreds, if not thousands of lives. He appreciated his friends and caretakers at Park Village Pines, and his family is so thankful for the wonderful end of life care provided by Bronson Hospital. A private graveside service is being held for immediate family. Due to Covid concerns there will be no visitation or service at this time. A memorial gathering to celebrate Russ' life will be scheduled at a later date. Memorials in Russ' memory may be directed to Kalamazoo Gospel Mission or Park Village Pines.
