Russell passed away Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo. He was born December 22, 1933 in Martin, the son of Henry and Edith (Lowery) Predum. Russ proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. For more than 40 years he had worked at James River Paper Mill and retired as an electrician. He was also active with the union and had served as the President. In his free time Russ enjoyed going to flea markets, fishing, boating and loved spending time visiting with his family and many friends. He was a member of the Otsego American Legion Post 84 and was a life member of the Otsego VFW Post #3030. On July 21, 1955 in Angola, Indiana he married Emma June Soderquist who passed away in 2010. Surviving are his children, Donna (Chuck) Valkner of Manton and Matt McNutt of Kalamazoo; 9 grandchildren, Kristen (Mike) Herlein, Jennifer Brown, Steven Searles Jr, Keith Valkner, Amber Searles, Donny Predum, Crayton Valkner, Shane McNutt and Caleb Valkner; 7 great-grandchildren, Aleayah and Brooklyn Herlein, Kyla, Leanna and Riley Predum and Tytus and Isabella Hall; siblings, Treva Schoneboom, Roland Predum, Mike Predum, Bonnie Putman and Clare Predum along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughters, Deanna Searles and Dawn Predum and siblings, Adelia McNutt, Alvin Predum, Joe Predum and Olive "Becky" Pantale. Friends may visit with Russ' family starting at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, June 6, 2019 at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 A.M., with son-in-law, Chuck Valkner officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Plainwell. Military Honors by the Otsego American Legion Post 84.
