Roger Vander Weide

Roger Earl Vander Weide, 84, of Kalamazoo MI went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday June 3, 2018. Roger was born on February 16, 1934 to Earl and Mercedes (Hunt) Vander Weide of Grand Rapids Michigan. At an early age, Roger came to know the Lord and enjoyed sharing the good news of the gospel with everyone around him. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was extremely proud of the time he spent in the service. Some of Roger's favorite pastimes were sailing and University of Michigan Football. He also had a beautiful voice and you could often hear him singing his heart to the Lord. Roger spent much of his spare time studying the word of God and loved to share all he had learned with anyone who would listen. Roger is survived by his beloved wife Nancy Vander Weide, and children Lynda (Jeffrey) Nelson, Catherine (Douglas) Dusseljee, Christopher Vander Weide, Elizabeth (Eric) Fenstermaker, Shelley (Roberts) Kengis, Jay (Donna) Nelson, Joel (Brenda) Nelson, and David (Dawn) Nelson. He also leaves behind 44 grandchildren and great-grandchildren who love him deeply. Roger also had a special place in his heart for his extended family and prayed for them diligently each and every day. Roger is preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters who are all rejoicing together in their heavenly reunion. Memorial services will be held on Friday June 8th, 1:00pm at CenterPoint Church 2345 10th Street N, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. Visitation will begin an hour prior to the Memorial at 12:00pm.
