Roger Russell

Russell , Roger 5/25/1943 - 12/6/2020 Richland Roger Roan Russell, 77, of Richland, passed away on December 6, 2020. Roger was born May 25, 1943, in Decatur, AL to Malcolm and Nettie Ruth (Bolton) Russell. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy, received his Associate's Degree in Business from Kalamazoo Valley Community College, and retired from Georgia-Pacific in 2001 after many years with the company. Roger married Christine Levandoski on August 7, 1982, who survives him. He is also survived by his son, Charles Travis Russell; his daughter, Veronica Russell; a stepson, John Vandewoestyne; two grandsons, Johnathon (Brittany) Russell and Daniel (Ashley) Russell; three great-grandsons, Johnathon Jr., Owen, and Damian Russell; a brother, Timothy (Diane) Russell; two sisters, Mary Russell-Parks and Charlie (Ron) Marshall; and many nieces and nephews. Roger was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Janice Collins and Teresa Moldovan; and a brother, Jeffrey Russell. Roger was a true outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, and explore the natural world. He was an avid reader, and passionate about music, astronomy, history, and nature. He particularly loved Scotland, where he was stationed while in the Navy, and traveled there with Christine and Charles to share in his memories and stories of his adventures. Cremation has taken place and due to the COVID-19 restrictions, a memorial gathering to celebrate Roger's life will be held at a later date.
