Robin VanDerBos

Age 62, passed away at her home on Sunday, July 22, 2018. Robin was born in Lyons Township, Illinois on July 19, 1956, the daughter of Ralph H. and Charlotte M. (DiPiazza) Van Der Bos. She was a graduate of Western Michigan University and retired from the Kalamazoo County Courts where she worked as a transcriptionist for many years. Robin faced many challenges and was blind for most of her life but overcame these obstacles with dignity and grace. She participated in Ski for Light and was a member of the blind bowler's league, the Sweet Adeline's Choir and First United Methodist Church of Kalamazoo. Robin was also an animal lover, owning a multitude of cats over the years and developing a special relationship with her seeing eye dogs, Jimmy and Clio. Robin is survived by her parents; brother, Michael (Catherine Taylor) Van Der Bos; sisters, Laurie (Terry Beers) Van Der Bos and Tracy (Bill) Yancy; and nieces and nephews, Logan and Kacey Van Der Bos, Amber Dickson, Brandon, Curtis and Courtney Start, Keith Yancy and Brooke McLean. Robin was preceded in death by her very close friend, Geneva Williams. A memorial service will be held at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 11:00 AM.
