Robert Virgil LeRoy

Our beloved father, Robert Virgil LeRoy, of Lake Ann and Travares, Florida, passed away on Sept. 25, 2015.

He was preceded in death by his son, Kent LeRoy.

He is survived by his sister, Patrica Atley, of Leesburg, Florida; and his daughters, Kim Hayter, of North Port, Florida, Kathy Knowles, of Port Charlotte, Florida, and Kristina Hooper, of Traverse City. He is also survived by his grandsons, Luke LeRoy, Adam Wilson, Larry Boyd and Tyler Knowles.

Robert believed in doing things the right way, “My Way.” He was an avid gardener, pilot, ship’s captain, scuba diver, roller blader, sky diver and bowler. He divided his time between Michigan and Florida, traveling with the weather.

He was a masonry contractor in Traverse City for 30 years, retiring in 2002.

He served three years in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Monssen DD789 as a gunner’s mate.

He was a devout Christian man.

Friends and family are invited to a life celebration on Oct. 10, 2015 from 1 to 5 p.m., at the Montague Estate Vineyard, 9674 Montague Road, Traverse City, MI 49686. A brief military service will be held at 3 p.m. by the Cherryland VFW Post 2780 and the U.S. Navy Honor Guard.
