Robert Johnson Rowe, age 97, longtime resident of Portage, left to join Jesus and his lovely wife, Margaret (Uramkin) in heaven on November 23, 2019. Bob was born January 29, 1922 in Allegan, MI, to Harold and Matilda "Sally" (Johnson) Rowe, who preceded him in death. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret "Marge" who died on August 18, 2015. Also preceding him in death were his dear cousins Betty and Robert van Melle, four aunts and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Bob is survived by a godson Craig van Melle of Allegan, MI and several nieces and nephews. Bob and Marge were longstanding members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Kalamazoo, where they were married on October 9, 1948. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the Third Army Ordinance under General Patton's command from 1942-1945. Bob graduated from Maher Business College in Kalamazoo, then went on to employment at Allen Electric where he met Marge. He later was employed at Aero-Motive Mfg. where he retired. Bob had many outside interests including travel with Marge. Colorado was their favorite destination. He enjoyed playing golf and also sang harmony in a barbershop quartet. Bob was extremely patriotic serving the USA in a multitude of ways. He was a long-time member of the Otsego Elks where he and Marge attended Wednesday evening dinners with their friends for many years. Robert J. Rowe, a kind-spirited gentleman, will be greatly missed by family and friends. Visitation will be 6-8pm Tuesday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 411 E. Centre Ave. A Funeral Service will be held 11:30am Wednesday, November 27th at Trinity Lutheran Church, 504 S. Westnedge Ave. Graveside services with full military honors will be held 2:30pm Wednesday in Kendall Cemetery, Pine Grove Township.
