Robert (Bob or Bobby) Frank Mariani, Sr., age 78, of Clearwater, FL passed on February 23, 2017, after an extended battle with cancer. Robert was born in Rosemont, West Virginia, on 4/6/1938, the 7th of 8 children. Prior to attending school, the family moved to Boonton, NJ, where he spent his childhood, and then raised his own family. He worked in the printing industry at The New York Times, and West Essex Printing. In 2002, he retired to Clearwater, Florida, with annual trips to Portage, MI, and Bolton Landing, NY. He was a US Army veteran. Bobby's interests were many. As a musician, he enjoyed all forms of music, and live performances. He was especially fond of football and field sports, being involved as a young athlete, and attended as many of his family's events as possible. Above all, he valued the company of family and friends, and excelled at the activities which fostered this camaraderie, especially golf and fishing. Bobby is survived by his wife, Myrtle; his son Patrick, and his wife Sue; his son Robert Jr, and his wife Susan; his sister Louise and her husband Milton; his step-son Steven Eberstein, and his wife Mary; his step-son Daniel Eberstein, and his fiance Jessica; and 8 grandchildren. He is predeceased by his wife Lorraine (formerly Manfredonia); his father Gaetano; his mother Sophia; his brothers Anthony and Guy; and his sisters Helen, Julia, Rose, and Virginia. In accordance with Bobby's wishes, no formal arrangements are being made to mark his passing. We will celebrate his life, with gatherings in both Florida, and New Jersey. Please consider a memorial contribution to Suncoast Hospice, or the Veterans Administration. Both organizations were instrumental in providing support to Bobby, and family, in a professional and caring manner.
