Obituary
Robert Joseph Kierepka, age 82, passed away October 15, 2025, at Select Specialty Hospital in Battle Creek, Michigan. He was born May 10, 1943, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was the only son in a quintessential Polish family, born to Rose and Joseph Kierepka and brother to Arlene Phillips, Dorothy Kuklewski, and Kathy Kierepka. Bob graduated from Aquinas College where he applied his talents with numbers as an accountant in the Air Force later Pfizer and in his private tax business. Bob maintained his tax business well into his 80s, remembering every client despite them numbering well over 100 across southwestern Michigan and Indiana. He married his soulmate, Lorna "Kay" Kierepka, July 10, 1980, and enjoyed 38 years until her passing in 2018. Bob and Lorna enjoyed their many vacations across the world, from a cruise in Alaska to multiple countries in Europe. Bob's greatest passion was being the Dad every child wishes for, proudly shouting "do it to it" during his girls' sports games or "prune facing" when he was proud of his girls (or his favorite sports team). He and Lorna were proud parents to Elizabeth "Liz" Kierepka, Lauren "Nicole" Jenney, and son-in-law Christopher Jenney. At home, Bob was an avid sports fan, particularly his Michigan teams including the Detroit Tigers, Michigan State Spartans, and University of Michigan Wolverines. Bob had an encyclopedic memory of every sports factoid, and could win any trivia game presented. He always took a risk in March Madness brackets, and more often than not, won the family pools much to his unforgettable grin and bragging rights. Bob had a contagious smile and had a group of amazing friends that he enjoyed golf and breakfasts with for many decades, and will be greatly missed by everyone he met including his grand dogs and cat. Bob leaves behind his daughters, sister Kathy, extended family, and numerous friends. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Dorothy and Arlene, and his beloved wife Lorna. Family and friends may visit Friday, October 24, 10-11 am followed by a memorial service from 11 am-noon and light refreshments after the service. All services will occur at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St., Kalamazoo, MI 49009. Memorial donations may be made in Bob's name to the Visiting Angels Foundation (visitingangelsfoundation.org).
