Robert Foerst

Robert Foerst of Kalamazoo, MI, age 92, passed away on November 5, 2017. Robert was born in Marshall, Michigan on October 1, 1925, the son of the late Arthur and Nina (Bryant) Foerst. He served his country honorably in the US Army; fighting in both WWII and the Korean War. Robert had a generous spirit and loving heart; an outgoing personality and could strike up a conversation with anyone, always introducing himself as "my name is Bob". He spent his younger years helping those in his neighborhood with mowing, snow removal and anything else he could do for them. His final years were spent doing yardwork and patrolling the neighborhood in his electric scooter and "supervising" when necessary. Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Betty A. Foerst and close friends, John and Florence Grubka. He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Rix; son, Craig Foerst; four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. A committal service with full military honors will be held at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in the spring.
