Robert E. VanEck

Passed away on December 28, 2006 at Borgess Hospital. Robert was born on December 28, 1927 in Albion, MI, the son of Cornelius and Edith (Griffith) VanEck. He was a Veteran having served in the US Army. He married DeLouise "Del" Finnegan on April 19, 1948. Robert was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church, The American Legion and the N.R.A. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Robert was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by a brother, Gary "Dutch" VanEck. He is survived by his wife, Del to whom he was married for 58 years; four children, Carol (Jim) Halfmann, Rick (Bobbie) VanEck, Teri (Phyl) Bennett and John (Reatha) VanEck; 10 Grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, January, 2, 2006 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at REDMOND Funeral Home 4100 S. Westnedge - 343-6156 where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 3, 2006 at 11:00 AM at St. Monica Catholic Church, 534 W. Kilgore Road. Fr. Larry Farrell Celebrant. Entombment will be held at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. A luncheon will be held at the church hall immediately following the entombment. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Heart Association or St. Monica Catholic Church.
