Riek DeJong

Went to be with the Lord Sunday morning, November 5, 2006. Mrs. DeJong was born in Aalten, The Netherlands, October 7, 1919, the daughter of Gerard & Dina (Stronks) TerHaar. She was a member of Immanuel Fellowship Church, was an excellent seamstress and cook and loved gardening. On July 19, 1945, she married Marinus "Rien" DeJong, Sr., who preceded her in death November 9, 1999. Surviving are three sons and their spouses, Neil "Case" & Lisa DeJong of Littleton, CO, Jerry & Phyllis DeJong of Wayland, MI, and Marty & Alice DeJong of Portage; nine grandchildren, Teressa (Howard) Drenth, Tom (Suzanne) DeJong, Jenny (Jonathan) Lenarz, Becki DeJong, Brian (Lisa) DeJong, Keri DeJong, Ezra Darnell, Ian Darnell and Aaron Darnell; six great-grandchildren, Tyler, Christopher and Olivia Drenth, Josiah and Jordan Lenarz, and Joshua DeJong; a brother, Dick (Wilhemina) TerHaar of Aalten, The Netherlands; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Arie TerHaar, and a sister, Joann Van't Hof. Funeral and Committal Services will be held 11 o'clock Wednesday morning at Immanuel Fellowship Church, 6015 West "H" Avenue, with Rev. Thomas Koning officiating. Contributions in her memory may be made to Immanuel Fellowship Church Building Fund or the DeJong Athletic Scholarship Fund at Kalamazoo Christian School Association.
