Tyler, Richard A. Plainwell, MI Richard passed away Saturday, October 2, 2021 at his home in Plainwell. He was born April 2, 1942 in Kalamazoo, the son of Arthur and Alma (Laymon) Tyler. For over 43 years Richard worked as a marking room clerk at Meijer on Westnedge Avenue in Kalamazoo until his retirement in 2007. Richard had previously belonged to the Otsego Church of God and was an active member of the Comstock Church of God. He was involved with the puppet ministry and teaching Sunday school. In his free time Richard enjoyed woodworking, gardening and landscaping, working with electronics, reading, doodling and making models. He volunteered at Alamo Nursing Home and Life Care Center in Plainwell. On May 19, 1973 in Otsego he married Carol Burd who survives. Also surviving are his daughter, Dorothy (Jason) Kovacs of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Robyn and Andrew; sister, Alice Stringer of Florida and several special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Homer. Friends may visit with Richard's family from 5-7 PM, Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at the Winkel Funeral Home in Otsego, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, October 6, 2021 with Pastor Gerald Miller officiating. A committal service will be held at 2:30 P.M., at Riverside Cemetery in Kalamazoo.
