Richard Carvell

Richard S. Carvell, 74, of Kalamazoo passed away suddenly at his home July 26, 2024. Richard was born May 22, 1950, the third son of Willis R. and Elsie L. (Wolthuis) Carvell. Richard attended Vicksburg Community Schools. He lived in Houston, Texas for eight years and then began a career as a long haul OTR truck driver, driving for several major truck lines. He returned to Michigan in the early 1990's and lived in Lawton, driving trucks for Moyle Trucking. He suffered a debilitating stroke in November 2007. He is survived by his brother David and Karen Carvell of Portage, a son Richard Carvell of Conway, Arkansas, daughter Michelle Thomas of Ruston, Louisiana, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather William Desness and brother Michael Carvell. Cremation has taken place. Richard will be interred at Schoolcraft Township Cemetery in Vicksburg, Michigan.
