Age 70, succumbed to cancer and passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at his home In Glasgow, KY. He was born in Plainwell, MI, on 11/18/1948, the son of the late Richard L. and Elizabeth Wahmhoff Meacham. He grew up in Alamo Twp, Kalamazoo County MI, and graduated from Otsego High School in 1966. In 1968 Rick married the love of his life, Sharon Lea Fenner, and shortly after their marriage, he was called to serve in the US Army during the Vietnam war, earning a Bronze Star for his service. In 1985, Rick and Sharon moved to Glasgow, KY after finding a love for that area while vacationing on their motorcycle. Eventually Rick would build a home for them on a channel to Barren River Lake, KY, where they happily spent the rest of their lives. Rick was a skilled carpenter, loved boating and motorcycling, and riding snowmobiles when he lived in Michigan. Rick was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon in 2011, his parents, and two sisters, Bonnie K. Esman and Karen S. Clingan. He is survived by two sisters, Janice E. Gerhart of Climax, MI and Sherry L. Hurlbut (Donald) of Ligonier, IN and several sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and many, many cousins and extended family members. Per his request, cremation has taken place. A memorial ceremony will be held at a later date in or near Plainwell, MI.
