Passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Independence Village in Grand Ledge. Age 88. Raymond was born in Mt. Carmel, PA on December 12, 1929, the son of the late Michael G. Shuptar and Rose Konic Shuptar. After serving in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict, he attended Penn State University, where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering. He retired from Consumers Energy after twenty-eight years of service, then worked as a consultant for the City of South Haven Electric Department until he was 79. Ray was a former member of Centerpoint Church in Kalamazoo and a current member of South Church in Lansing. He was active with the Gideons, a member of the Portage Rotary Club, where he served on its board of directors, and a volunteer docent for the Kalamazoo Air Zoo. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Helen L. (King) Shuptar; children, Steven (Jennifer) Shuptar, Douglas (Lois) Shuptar; grandchildren, Michael (Ericka) Shuptar, Jonathan (Meagan) Shuptar, Mark (Nikki) Shuptar, Lena Shuptar, Stephanie (Yog) Hall; Christopher Shuptar; great-grandchildren, Maya, Zoey, Autumn, Aiden, Emery, Lilah, Gregory, Uriah, Samuel, Sada, Emerson, and Penelope; and one sister, Arlene Stickel. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister, Daniel Shuptar, Thomas Shuptar and Anne Eremich. Private interment will take place in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 29th at South Church, 5250 Cornerstone Rd., Lansing, MI 48917, with Dr. Don Denyes officiating.
