Ralph William Meteer, 72, of Kingsley, passed away surrounded by his loving family on November 29, 2015.

He was born on February 26, 1943 in Traverse City the son of Vern Kasson and Jessie Marie (Calhoun) Meteer. Ralph graduated from Glen Lake High School. Upon graduation he entered the US Air Force; where he as a riffle marksman and he loaded bombs in England during the Vietnam War.

After serving, he returned to Traverse City, met and married the love of his life. He began his career as a heavy equipment operator and continued to be promoted due to his great work ethic, working at Elmer’s then GTC. Ralph and his family moved to San Antonio, Texas, where he started his career as a crane operator and was very well known for his work throughout the state.

Ralph had an amazing sense of humor and a very quick wit. He was a dependable person and gave freely of himself to others. His family was very important to him. Ralph used every opportunity to teach values and skills to his family. It was a priority to be involved in their lives. His passion was hunting, and he enjoyed sharing that with his family. He was especially proud of his elk.

He was a member of the NRA and the National American Legion.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Margaret Ellen (Pierson) Meteer; they were married on April 27, 1968 in Traverse City; children, Elizabeth (Robert) Lajko of Kingsley, Michelle (William) Saddington of Honor and Barbara Hall of Traverse City; grandchildren, Megan (Andrew) Girard, Chelsea, Tyler, & Emma Lajko; Zach & MacKenzie Bradlau; Jenna, Luke and Jacob Saddington; Preston and Kirsten Hall; three great-grandchildren, Ava, Claire and Liam Girard; siblings, Darwin (Marilyn) Meteer, Ron (Sue) Meteer; Cathy (Homer) Brown; uncle, Glenn Meteer and lifelong friends, Rex Guernsey & Tom Kennedy.

Ralph is preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, Amanda, and brother, Harold Meteer.

In respect to Ralph’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Ralph's life will be held at the Kingsley Baptist Church Kingsley, MI on Monday, Dec 7, 2015 at 11:00am.
