R.D. Kalamazoo Age 97, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday night, June 8, 2022. R.D. was born in Batesville, AR, on July 18, 1924, the son of Ruffus and Dottie (Lindsey) Forshee. On November 8, 1945, he married Evelyn Marie Lipford who preceded him in death in 2018. R.D. proudly served his nation as a Seabee in the U.S. Navy, and their "Can Do" motto is certainly fitting for him. R.D. had a strong work ethic and was the former owner of Forshee Roofing Company. He was a kind and loving person. R.D. was always willing to help out anyone in need. He was a great man of faith who trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ for his salvation. He was a member of 12th Street Baptist Church, where he was very active. He had served as a song leader there and often sang in the church services. R.D. loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening and working in the yard. R.D. is survived by his children, Linda Olivares, Rosemary Fisher, and Timothy Forshee; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grand-children; several nieces and nephews; and countless friends. Besides his wife, R.D. was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Robert Forshee and Charlie Forshee; a son-in-law, Abe Olivares; 5 brothers and 3 sisters. R.D. will be laid to rest in a graveside service with full military honors at Ft. Custer National Cemetery at a time and date to be announced shortly. Memorial contributions may be made to Alamo Nursing Home, c/o the funeral home. The family would like to acknowledge the loving care given by the staff during his time there.
