Priscilla Copley Peterson, 78, of Traverse City, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, at Grand Traverse Pavilions in Traverse City.

Priscilla was born May 16, 1930, in Cadillac, to Guy and Lucille Copley of Mesick. She was a graduate of Buckley High School and had an associate's degree from Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City.

Priscilla loved to laugh and be a part of things. At her church she sang in the choir, was in Stephen's Ministries, attend Bible study classes and was a member of a Yoke Fellow group at Central United Methodist Church.

She volunteered in the KNAPP program at West High School, took care of children at a health club and had a career as school cook at Oak Park and West Woods Elementary schools.

She enjoyed playing golf, knitting, embroidery, basket making, the sun, beach, travel, entertaining friends and above all, her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include one sister, Mary Stout of Bloomfield Hills; daughter, Sharon Piatek; sons, Gerald Peterson, Blair Peterson and Jan Peterson; and grandchildren, Josh Peterson, Justin Peterson, Kalyn Peterson, John Piatek, Jordyn Piatek, Cameron Peterson, Lauren Peterson, Emily Peterson, Tara Peterson, Brianne Peterson and Steve Peterson. She was married to Richard Peterson, who survives.

Friends may call at Covell Funeral Home, 232 State St., Traverse City, between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. on Friday. Funeral services will be held at Central United Methodist Church, 222 Cass St., Traverse City, on Saturday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Tamara Williams officiating. Graveside services will follow at Cornell Cemetery on West Four Road near Buckley.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the choir at the Central United Methodist Church in Traverse City or a diabetes charity.
