Phyllis Carlton

Phyllis "Mimi" Carlton, of Galesburg, MI passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2017. Age 83. Phyllis was born in Greenfield, TN on November 22, 1933, the daughter of the late William J. Carlton and Fannie (Stuut) O'Meara. She retired from Humphrey Products after fourteen years of service. She was a member of the Galesburg United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time at the clubhouse at River Manor, where she played Bingo and met with friends for coffee & donuts. She also enjoyed live music at Niko's Landing. Most of all she loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by four children, Roger (Linda) Carlton, Sandra (Tra) Roof, Lisa (Bill) Coleman and Michael (Kristi) Carlton; her adopted daughter, Shelley Newburry; eighteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters, Smokey J. Carlton, Rosco (Vonda) Deaton, Patricia Martin and Barbara (Nancy) Reed; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. 1 p.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Galesburg Chapel, 145 W. Battle Creek St., Galesburg, MI 49053. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 1 p.m. at the funeral chapel, with Pastor Don Wendell officiating. Interment will follow the service in Maple Grove Cemetery in Comstock. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
