Perlongo, Phillip B.

Peacefully passed away on January 30, 2016, at the age of 88 years. Preceded in death by his beloved parents Antonio and Sarafina, dear brothers and sisters-in-law Jerome (Dorothy), Natale (Anna), John and Thomas (Patricia) and dearest companion Marcella Hansen. Survived by loving nieces and nephews Sarah (Jeff), Tony, Maria (Dennis), Michael (Deborah), Michele, Patti, Tom (Linda), Vince, Joe and Jerry, great niece and nephews Shane, Vicki and Vinnie, cousins Rosa, Jo, Sara, Louie and Sal, godson Tony Olivo, other relatives and friends.

Phil was always ready with a story and a man of many talents. While in the service, he was a boxer and a leather carving instructor to wounded WWII Air Force pilots. After the service, he was an outstanding pitcher for many slow pitch softball teams. He was in several World Series softball tournaments. This led to his induction into the Wisconsin Softball Hall of Fame in 2011. He enjoyed fishing with his brothers and nephews. After retiring from Continental Can Co., he took up painting. Despite failing eyesight from macular degeneration, he was a prolific painter. He won several Interfaith Senior Art competitions. He was an accomplished harmonica player and enjoyed entertaining.

The family would like to thank John McDermott for his many years of dedicated help and friendship to Phil and Marcella, neighbors Terry and Jill, his at home caregivers Lynette, Fallis, Pat and Stacy, the caring staff at Creekside Manor and Season’s Hospice.

Visitation will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in the South Chapel, 7301 W. Nash St. on Friday February 5, 2016 from 10:30 AM until time of the complete service at 11 AM. Memorials in Phil’s name may be made to Interfaith Senior Programs of Waukesha County, 210 NW Barstow St. Suite 101, Waukesha, WI 53188.
