Went home to be with the Lord on January 13, 2021. He was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on June 15, 1936. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Sandra E. (DeNooyer) Siegfried and two sons, two daughters and their spouses: Jeffrey (Shawna) Siegfried of Ada, MI; Thomas Siegfried of Grand Rapids, MI; Janice (Steven) Van Hoof of Saugatuck, MI and Julie (Bruce) Vlietstra of Kalamazoo, MI. Phil took great pride in his and Sandy's eleven grandchildren: Michelle (Erick) Martinez; Kristen Siegfried; Joshua Siegfried; Claire Siegfried; Marta Siegfried; Alison Van Hoof; Amelia Van Hoof; Phoebe Van Hoof; Victoria Vlietstra; Philip Vlietstra and Gabrielle Vlietstra and two great-granddaughters: Annabelle and Josephine Martinez. Phil was preceded in death by his parents Waldo and Helen (Lamoreaux) Siegfried and his sister Joan A. (Joe) Nuyen. Phil spent his childhood in Comstock, MI, graduated from Tri-State College in Angola, IN, and worked as a Certified Public Accountant in the Kalamazoo area. He was especially fond of using his talents to assist individuals and small businesses, where he developed many dear and life-long friends. He was a member of Third Christian Reformed Church in Kalamazoo. In his earlier years, he was an active volunteer in church, Kalamazoo Christian schools, and charitable and civic organizations. He joyfully rang the bell for The Salvation Army during the holidays for many years. There was a soft spot in his heart for his pets, as well as the animals at the Kalamazoo Humane Society, where he was a charitable donor. Some of his interests included watching a variety of spectator sports, attending the theater, and listening to music from his era. He was passionate about cars; he could identify the year, make and model of any car from the 1940's and 1950's. He also greatly appreciated local and American history. When time permitted, he and Sandy traveled, wintering in Peoria, AZ and spending summers in South Haven, MI. Private services will be held at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel with burial taking place at Genesee Prairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kalamazoo Christian School Association, the Kalamazoo Humane Society or to a charity of one's choice.
