Peter Sluys

Peter, by the will of God, was born along with his twin sister, Alice, to John and Irene (Westra) Sluys, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the fifth of seven children and was a Kalamazoo Christian High School graduate. He went home to be with his Lord on April 26, 2020. Peter was preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings. Peter lived a varied and interesting life, having lived in four states, working at several jobs: factory, office, managing apartments and in mental health as a licensed psychiatric practical nurse for 25 plus years. He retired from the Kalamazoo Regional Psychiatric Hospital in 1989. Following his retirement, Peter dabbled in writing letters and viewpoints to the Kalamazoo Gazette. Because of his love for God's beautiful creation, he enjoyed visiting National Parks and the oceans. Mr. Sluys was a charter member of the Covenant United Reformed Church. His favorite Bible verses were Psalm 27:1 and Jude 1:24-25. He also enjoyed the Hallelujah Chorus. "If we should somehow Meet and you forget Me, you have lost Nothing. If you have Met Jesus and you forget Him you will have lost Everything." Private services and burial in Riverside Cemetery were held on Friday, May 1, 2020.
