Patricia “Patty” Homan was a woman with an amazing heart, who dedicated her life to her family. She had a warm and giving heart, and could always be counted on as a support for those close to her and a shoulder to lean on. Throughout her life, Patty was a model of devotion and love, and everyone who spent time with her felt the warmth of her presence.

The world was not a very safe place the year that Patty was born. World War II showed little signs of abatement as more and more U.S. troops shipped out for the European continent. At the same time, thousands of women stood united and labored to keep domestic industries running full steam. It was into this time of unity and patriotism that Alfred and Ruby (West) Hamilton of Kalamazoo, Michigan welcomed the birth of their beautiful daughter, Patricia, on July 28, 1942. Sadly, Patricia’s father passed away when she was young, and her mother eventually remarried to Mr. Cole. Patty, as she was called, grew up on their family farm in Vicksburg, though for a short time they lived on Barton Lake, which she loved. She attended the area schools, and was active in 4-H.

Life certainly had its ups and downs for Patty, but all she had to do was look at the faces of her six children: Shelli, Marc, Kevin, Juliane, Erin and Tony, who were her greatest joy. She was all the wonderful things a mother should be - patient, caring and generous with her time; she never thought twice about going out of her way to help someone who needed her. When her kids were grown and some had moved away, Patty always had a listening ear when they called, and motherly advice, when needed. Being blessed with grandchildren was just the icing on the cake for her!

In 1985, Patty met Arnold “Arnie” Homan, and they dated for about 8 years before “tying the knot” on August 13, 1993. They liked to go fishing and camping together, and Patty enjoyed many hobbies, including painting and working in her garden. She liked all genres of music, and trying her luck gambling at casinos throughout Michigan. Patty was an excellent cook, and loved to make a feast for her family. Above all, she loved being surrounded by her family and friends, and loved spending her time being a mother and grandmother to the people who brought her life immeasurable joy. She will be dearly missed.

Patricia “Patty” A. Homan of Fulton, MI passed away on Monday, April 8, 2013, at the age of 70. She is survived by her husband, Arnie Homan of Fulton; six children: Shelli (Ray Michen) Lanfeare of IN, Marc Mott (Laura) of OR, Kevin (Jennifer) Mott of WA, Juliane (Matt Preston) Perry of Fulton, Erin (Lee) Baylis of Clarkston, Tony (Maria) Bacon of TX; 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, James Cole, of Vicksburg. She is preceded in death by her siblings: Janet Craft, J. Jae, and Budrow Hamilton.
