Patricia Ann Baker (Cox), age 76, of Alpena, MI, formerly of Plainwell passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 27, 2017, at Mid-Michigan Medical Center of Alpena, surrounded by her family. On May 3, 1941, Patricia was born to the late Thomas and Mary Jane (Beebe) Cox in Kalamazoo, MI. She married Jerry Baker on June 9, 1962 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Delton, MI. She graduated from Delton-Kellogg High School in 1959 where she was a cheerleader. She worked as a telephone operator before returning to WMU to complete her degree in Elementary Education in 1975. She taught 5th and 6th graders at Delton-Kellogg Middle School for 21 years before her retirement. Pat was an avid Detroit Lions and Tigers Fan. She enjoyed traveling, touring Lighthouses in Alpena and Presque Isle County, spending time at the lake, and especially visiting with her friends, family and neighbors. Pat was preceded in death by her husband Jerry on September 20, 2004, her father and mother-in-law, Carl and Grace Baker, a step-father, Murl Lyon, sister-in-law, Mary Ann Baker, and sister-in-law Arlene Cox, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins. She is survived by her four children; Laura (Jeff) Hettinger of Martin, MI; Dan Baker of Alpena, MI; Nancy (Steve) Monroe of Plainwell, MI; and Lisa Baker (Karol Bartlam) of Richland, MI; her 7 grandchildren: Zachary (Grace) Hettinger, Jeremy (Megyn) Hettinger, Shane (Kaleigh) Hettinger, Sydnee Baker, Mitchell, Trenton and Sophia Monroe; 3 great-grandchildren: Hunter, Hadley, and Sharlette Hettinger. Three brothers: Thomas (Carolyn) Cox of Otsego, MI; Kenneth Cox of Jacksonville, FL; Martin (Kim) Cox of Montana, brother-in-law Carl (Dodie) Baker, sister-in-law Pamela (Andy) Knight, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family burial will take place at the Prairieville Cemetery in Prairieville, MI. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alpena Cancer Center in memory of Patricia.
