Oren "Tuffy" Gillette

Oren “Tuffy” Gillette, age 71, of Portage died on Thursday, March 28, 2019. He was born on April 6, 1947 in Sandusky, Ohio, the son of Oren and Agnes (Stuhler) Gillette, and he grew up in Collinwood, Ohio. Known as a caring person who loved his family, he was proud of all of their accomplishments, and he always had a positive outlook on life. His favorite saying was “PMA”, which stood for Positive Mental Attitude, and he always found the positive in people and situations in life. He was passionate about his golf game and was a life time member of Gull Lake View Golf Club. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and compassion. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. For many years he was a purchasing manager for the Eaton/Dana Corporation, retiring in 2010. In his retirement years he stayed busy by working on his golf game, shopping, going to the casinos with Nicki, and visiting his children who live out of state.

Members of his family include his wife of 17 years, Nicki, 3 children: Lt Col Patrick (Tracey) Gillette of Dayton, OH, CW3 (Ret) Brandon ( Misty) Gillette of Crestview, FL, and Kristy (Steven) Smith, Fulshear, TX. 6 grandchildren: Brayden (Janis), Bryce, Chase, Cameron, Jestyn, and Sian, and a great grandson Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Loren.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.
