Surrounded by her family, Olivia C. Lipari, age 93, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 11, 2017 at St. Monica’s. She was born in Racine, February 18, 1923, daughter of the late Rosario and Maria (Nee: Imbrogno) DeRose. She graduated from Wm. Horlick High School “Class of 1941” and worked for Webster Electric Co. during World War II.

On June 18,1949, she married Anthony “Tony” Lipari and they had five children. Olivia was a member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church and Roma Lodge’s Vittoria Colonna women’s organization. Known for her competitive spirit, she played in the women’s bocce leagues at Roma Lodge and countless family bocce tournaments. Olivia loved to sing, dance, cook, play cards and tell stories with gusto and laughter. She most enjoyed being “Nana” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Anthony; children, Joseph (Barbara) Lipari, Patricia (Charles) Smetana, Anthony (Cynthia) Lipari, Marie (Michael) Doyle, Marc (Mary) Lipari; 11 grandchildren- Ross, Ben, Tom, Nick, Michael, Angela, Tony, Christie, Megan, Tony, and Nicole; 13 great grandchildren – Luca, Raffaela, Capriana, Nolan, Nevan, Aiden, Gianna, Ella, Logan, Charlie, Cecilia, Vincent, and Noah; siblings, Jennie (the late Raymond) Venturini, Richard (Virginia) DeRose, Josephine (William) Chiappetta, Mary Jane (Louis) Pillizzi, Roger (Georganne) DeRose; brother-in-law, Dominic (the late Alberta) Lipari, sister-in-law Connie (the late Glen) Kurhajec; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Frances (David) Scott and sister-in-laws Mary (Frank) Rizzo, Sarah (Rocco) DeRose.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, February 17, 2017, 11:00 A.M. at St. Edward’s Catholic Church, 1401 Grove Ave. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet Friday at the church, 9:30 A.M. until time of Mass at 11:00. Ladies of Vittoria Colona will have a prayer service at 10:30 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Monica’s Capital Campaign for the 2017 Memory Care Unit are suggested.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to caregivers of St. Monica’s and the Hospice Alliance team for their loving care and support given to our mother.
