Nola Williams

Nola was born October 4, 1930 to the late Dennis and Winona (Gardner) Underwood. She was united in marriage to Ellard Williams on September 18, 1965. He preceded her in death in August of 1995. Among Nola's many interests included, fishing, gardening, reading, watching westerns and she loved bird-watching. She was an excellent cook and a gracious hostess. Nola is survived by her children, Noreen Palm, Sheila (Ervin) Howell, Cheryl "Sherry" Sanders, Kevin Shaffer and Sandra Gilbert; 18 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; siblings, Stella Trice, Gloria Underwood and Henrietta Letts; daughter-in-law, Patricia Shaffer; sister-in-law, Nelda Underwood; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by sons, Byron Shaffer and Eric Shaffer; grandson, David Williams; siblings, McKinley Underwood, Kenneth Underwood, Roberta Russell, Dennis Underwood, Robert Underwood and Billy Underwood. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, March 7th, from 11-12:00 pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street, where the funeral service will begin at 12:00 pm.
