Life Story / Obituary

Print

On October 9, 2016, the angels escorted Neil Duncan MacDonald into heaven from the Life Care Center Nursing Home of Plainwell, where he had spent over the last 30 years of his life. Neil was born on July 25, 1930 and lived a full life even though afflicted with cerebral palsy; which included starting radio station WHHS at his high school in his hometown in Pennsylvania. In his early adult life, he had also reached an astounding level of achievement in magazine sales. Neil was known for his quick wit, organizational skills, intelligence, ingenuity and perseverance which all extended his life beyond the normal expectancy of someone with cerebral palsy. Neil was loved by all who knew him and always had some kind of joke to tell anyone listening. He was loved and wonderfully cared for by so many of the staff at Life Care Center. In a sense, Neil was Life Care Center as he lived there when it was called Cunningham's. Neil was preceded in death by both parents and his wife, Betty. He is survived by several cousins. Visitation will be held this Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016 from 10-11 AM at the Marshall-Gren Life Story Funeral Home, 120 South Woodhams St., Plainwell, MI and his service will follow at 11 AM. It will be officiated by the Reverend Catherine Martin of Plainwell First Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow at the East Martin Cemetery. Those wishing to fellowship after the interment may meet at Applebee's of Plainwell. Memorials may be made to the Plainwell First Presbyterian Church.
