Age 88, died January 18, 2016. She was born in Biwabik, MN on July 23, 1927, the only child of Carl and Ily Saxhaug. She graduated in 1945 from Chisholm High School. Muriel, then attended Pharmacy College at the University of Minnesota and graduated in 1949. In 1950 she married David Gregg, who preceded her in death on May 26, 2010. Muriel worked for 5 years as a hospital pharmacist. They moved to Kalamazoo in 1953 and in 1955 had a daughter, Barbara. Daughter, Kathryn was born in 1957; she died in 1970. Barbara died in 2002. Muriel began taking art classes at the Kalamazoo Institute of Art and became active in various activities. She was member of AAUW and League of Women Voters. For 16 years she organized the art shows at People’s Church. She was on the Board of Directors of the KIA, served on the Exhibitions and Permanent Collected Committees, the Docent Council and Board of Art League. The family lived for 4 years in England in the 1960’s. In the 1980’s, she and 2 friends had a business called Artcorp that specialized in selling local art to area business. She exhibited her own art work through several local venues. She is survived by her sisters in law: Nancy Shehi of San Rafael, CA and Betty Goranson of Duluth, MN; and by a long-time friend, Marilyn Lindeck of Kalamazoo, MI.
