Michael Cunningham

Michael James Cunningham Jr., of Kalamazoo, MI passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at the age of 90. Michael was born September 15, 1926 in Kalamazoo to the late Michael and Mary (Hennessey) Cunningham. He was united in marriage to Jeannette "Jean" Dushane on November 11, 1946 and he was honored to have celebrated 70 loving years with her in November of 2016. Michael served in the Army Air Force from October of 1945 until honorably discharged in October of 1946. Soon after, he became employed with the USPS and served for nearly 40 years before retiring. Michael was proud to have played with Sutherland's baseball team and helped them win the National Championships in 1949 and in 1951. Michael is survived by his wife, Jeannette Cunningham; children, Michael (Debbie) Cunningham and Patricia (Alan) Wong; 5 grandchildren, Alan, Mark, Angie, Amber and Andy; 7 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Eller; 4 nieces; and special friends, Terri and John Magnan and Sue and Bern Potts. The family will greet friends on Saturday, February 11th from 10-11am at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 1628 East G Ave., Parchment, 49004 where a memorial service will begin at 11:00am. Fr. James O'Leary officiating. Arrangements by Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. A private burial will be at East Cooper Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Michael's name may be directed to Rose Arbor Hospice Care or to St. Ambrose Catholic Church.
