Obituary
Melford Harrington of Kalamazoo passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2013 at the age of 87. He was born in Kalamazoo on May 19, 1925, the son of the late Clare and Lucille (Ritter) Harrington. He served with the United States Army during World War II. He worked for Durametallic Corporation, now Flowserve, retiring on January 1, 1986 after 30 years of service. He was a member of Milwood United Methodist Church. Melford enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, golfing and woodworking. He was married to Esther "Jean" V. (Jones) Harrington on November 5, 1949; she survives him. He is also survived by two brothers, Kenneth (Joanne) Harrington of Kalamazoo and Clare Harrington, Jr. of Allegan; his nieces and nephews, Bill (Jean) Irwin Jr. of Kalamazoo, Bonnie DeRidder of Marshall, Bruce (Becky) Irwin of Kalamazoo, Maxine Truemper of Park Falls, WI, Dawn (Paul) Searles of Delton, Mike (Cathy) Harrington of Allegan; and several grand nieces and grand nephews. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 17, 2013 at Milwood United Methodist Church, 3919 Portage St. Rev. Kennetha Bigham-Tsai will officiate with burial in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. and then at the church from 10:00 AM until time of service on Friday. Memorials may be made to Milwood United Methodist Church.
