Marylou Ailes, 96, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2020. Born on April 22, 1924 to Gardner and Beatrice Garlick. United in marriage on October 12, 1946 to Steven Vincent Ailes. Surviving are her children; Terry (Lois) Ailes, Randy (Sue) Ailes, Scott (Ruth) Ailes, Toni (Marc) Halverson, Ryan Ailes, Nancy (Todd) Curran, Todd (Joyce) Ailes, 17 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Also survived by Siblings; Beverly Richards, Alan (Bonnie) Garlick, Ruth Dean, Jim (Shirley) Garlick, Gordon Garlick and sister in law, Marion Garlick. Preceded in death by parents Gardner and Beatrice Garlick, husband of 68 years Steven Vincent Ailes, daughter in law Linda Ailes, brother Bruce Garlick, sister Polly Goodrich, brother in law, Jim Goodrich and brother in law Newell Dean. Marylou was born and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She graduated from Portage High School and attended Western Michigan University pursuing the secretarial program. She was married to Steven Vincent Ailes on October 12, 1946 and was a kind, totally devoted, and loving woman to her husband and the seven children that they raised together. Marylou and Vince (Steven) was a storybook romance filled with true love. They were always seen holding hands, laughing, and singing together throughout their 68 years. Her whole world revolved around caring for their family. Marylou and her family were often heard singing in harmony at many celebrations. Along with music, Marylou enjoyed word games, researching genealogy, and reading. She always carried a book in her purse. Marylou enjoyed camping in their RV and spending time with her family at their family lake home. After raising her family, Marylou pursued her secretarial skills at Miles W. Boekeloo Company and the family business, Kalamazoo Rent-A-Trailer. Marylou will be missed and remembered by many.Visitation for Marylou will be held at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Burial and Cremation Center, 3926 S. 9th St. Kalamazoo, Michigan 49009 on Monday, October 26 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. Only 30 will be allowed in building at a time for the visitation. A funeral service will also be held there at 1:00 p.m. The service will be limited to family due to Covid 19. Randall G. Ailes will officiate. Masks and social distancing are required upon entering the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
