Age 83 Passed away on March 23, 2018, after a long journey through Alzheimer's. She was born on December 13, 1934, in Three Rivers, Michigan, to Charles W. and Mildred Olive (Galbreath) Porter. Mary Lou retired from teaching at Comstock High School in 1992. She is survived by Robert John Thiessen, her husband of 61 years; stepsister Mary Ann (Doane) Sindt and stepbrother Robert (Shirley) Doane; and daughter Sunny Hicks and son Dale (Amy) Thiessen. Also surviving her are her beloved grandchildren, Jennifer Hicks, Scott (Michelle) Hicks, Zachary Hicks, Joshua (Amanda) Hicks, Gabriel Hicks, Jacob Thiessen, and Hannah Thiessen; and great-grandchildren Chaney Hicks, Chase Hicks, and Kate Hicks. Private services and burial will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation. Mary Lou's major area of concern would be best supported by memorial donations to the ASPCA.
