Mary Jean Pierson (née Wedgwood), age 75, passed away on June 20, 2016 with her devoted husband Jim at her side, at the Heartland Health Care Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was born to Llewellyn and Gertrude (DeYoung) Wedgwood on September 21, 1940 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Mary graduated from Ottawa Hills High School in 1958 and attended Denison University, graduating with a BS degree in 1962. She taught high school chemistry and math for several years in the Boston area. She married James Wayne Pierson in 1979. She worked for Easter Seals and in the JC Penny photo department. She was an accomplished photographer and enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is remembered with love by husband James Wayne Pierson of Grand Rapids, two sons Josiah Winston Pierson and Thomas Wedgwood Pierson both of Grand Rapids, two sisters Lois (Wedgwood) Hatfield of Port Charlotte, FL and Sharon (Wedgwood) Mytyk of Bowling Green, FL, brother-in-laws Norman Bruce Pierson of Allegan MI, Thomas Warren Pierson of Grand Rapids MI and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Llewellyn and Gertrude Wedgwood.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held for Mary Jean Pierson at Heartland Health Care Center, 1700 Leonard Street NE, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49505. (616-456-7243) on July 29, 2016 at 2:30 PM. Pastor Ruth Fitzgerald from East Church will be officiating. Please RSVP if you plan on attending this memorial service to Jim Pierson's twin brother Tom Pierson @ 1-616-443-0785 so that we can plan accordingly for this service (thank you).
