Mary Hickey Goss

Died peacefully on Saturday morning, April 18, 2020. Mary was born on November 12, 1925, in Brockton, MA, the daughter of Marion (Perkins) and Daniel Hickey. Mary graduated from Penn State University in 1946, majoring in biology and chemistry. She worked in research for Sharp and Dohme (Merck) where she met her future husband, Samuel Richard Goss, and they married on April 30, 1949. They raised their family in Maryland before moving to Michigan. Mary was employed by Waldo Library at Western Michigan University until her retirement in 1990. Mary was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Kalamazoo. Mary's hobbies included reading, gardening, knitting, and genealogy work. She was known in the family for her wonderfully knit Christmas stockings. Mary is survived by her children, Nancy Ann (Richard) Graham, College Park, MD; Richard (Paula) Goss, Richland, MI; Susan (Tim) Allshouse, Adrian, MI; Judy Yaroch Goss, Macomb, MI; grandchildren, Katie Graham (Dave) King, Bear, DE; Sarah Graham (David) Juhasz, London, UK; Kelly Goss, Kalamazoo, MI; Matt Goss (Wallis Gaillard), Boston, MA; Chris (Andrea) Allshouse, North Richland Hills, TX; Emily Allshouse (Alex St. Clair) Farmington Hills, MI; Michael Goss, Clinton Township, MI; Stephen Goss, Mobile, AL; Jonathan (Alexis) Goss, New Baltimore, MI; Ryan Goss, Macomb, MI; six great grandchildren; her sister Ann Baker, Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and nieces and nephews. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Daniel, her husband of 70 years, S. Richard (2019), and her son Christopher Michael (2005). A private burial will take place in Northumberland, PA, at a later date.
