Marjorie Louise Kelly (Collins) was born in Darke County, Ohio on April 14, 1924 to parents, John Byard Collins and Thelma R. Riegel. Marjorie had one brother, James and sisters, T. Anne Collins Jones and Jean Simington. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends although her loving and compassionate spirit will live on. Marjorie graduated from Farmington High School in 1942 and went on to complete two years of college. She then became one of the thousands of American women to help in WWII's war effort. She worked in Arlington, VA to help decipher Japanese messages through the Navy's Volunteer Emergency Services. She married John D. Kelly in 1947 and was married for 21 years. They had four children, Michael J. (deceased), twins, Karin L. and Kirk D. (deceased), and Craig T. Kelly. She left behind loving nieces, Trudy, Tracy and Debbie, and a nephew, their children, three great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Marjorie had a successful career in the controller's office at the Old Kent (Fifth Third) Bank. She was an active member of the Beta Sigma Phi service sorority for over 50 years. Travel and seeing new places was important to her and she enjoyed several trips with her daughter. Marjorie also enjoyed the family reunions that she and her family spent together at nearby lakes. Over the years, Marjorie volunteered at Cancer Centers, Memory Care units, and Hospice Centers with her therapy dogs. Her beloved dog, Launi, was her constant companion during her later years. The family wishes to thank the Borgess Garden skilled nursing staff especially on the Tea Garden wing as well as the nurses at Heartland Hospice. A graveside memorial will be held this summer at the West Cooper Cemetery. Please send contributions in memory of Marjorie L. Kelly to the Dementia Society of America by mail to PO Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901, or online www.dementiasociety.org/donate. You can also send the family a personal message at avinkcremation.com .
