Marie Dickert-Turner came to Racine, WI as the young bride of an Army Air Corps officer at the end of World War II and lived here for 72 years, passed away on Friday February 10th, 2017 at the age of 96.

Born in Yakima, WA on April 25th, 1920 to Louis and Anna Cavallo, she spent most of her childhood in eastern Oregon with her parents, two brothers and three sisters.

Early in 1944 Marie was married to Lt. Robert P. Dickert Sr. an Army Air Corps pilot/ photographer,

Ceremony held at Pendelton Air Field, and moved to his hometown here the next year. They had four children and the marriage lasted 30 years until his death in 1974.

In April of 1980 she was married in the Bahamas to Clarence J. Turner. They lived briefly in Galva, IL before returning to Racine. Clarence Turner died in late 1987.

Marie was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters, her eldest daughter Ann Rubio, and eldest son Robert P. Dickert, Jr. She is survived by her son, Gregory J. Dickert of Green Bay, WI, daughter Jeane Norman of Santa Cruz, CA and by many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Marie’s zest for life and refreshing honesty will be sorely missed but never forgotten.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, February 18, 2017, 11:00 A.M. at St. Edward Catholic Church, 1435 Grove Avenue. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until time of Mass at 11:00 A.M. Memorials to St. Edward Catholic Church or to St. Catherine's High School have been suggested.
