Marian Mitchell

Marian T. Mitchell, age 63, of Kalamazoo passed away Friday morning, February 2, 2018. Marian was born March 27, 1954 in Pensacola, FL the daughter of the late Willie and Teresa (Watson) Simmons. She attended Trenches Community Church and enjoyed traveling around the country. She also enjoyed puzzle books, going to plays, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. On November 22, 1985 she was united in marriage to Oscar Mitchell who preceded her in death on August 1, 2000. Marian was also preceded in death by 3 sisters, Elvera Simmons, Linda Simmons, and Tonya Cooper. She is survived by her daughters, Kel (Kenneth) Reese, Sandra (Arthur) Meier; Pecolua (Christopher) Collins; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and a great-great granddaughter on the way; brothers and sisters, George Stinson, Stephanie Smith, Franzhester Jackson, Yvette (Marshall) Johnson, Andrea Cooper, Keith Simmons, Marsha Lockhart; and a host of nieces and nephews. A wake for viewing will be held Tuesday, February 6, from 4-5 PM at Langeland Family Funeral Home, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 10, at the Trenches Community Church, 1003 Gayle Ave. Private interment of cremains will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Rose Arbor Hospice.
