Margaret Wheat

Margaret Jean (Fluke) Wheat, age 94, of Galesburg, MI passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday Nov. 28, 2017. Born Sept. 29, 1923, she was the daughter of Francis Marion and Doris Leone (Wood) Fluke. She is survived by her sister, Marilyn Mazur. Her half-sister Doris Wolf predeceased her. "Tootie" grew up in Galesburg and married James Carroll Wheat Sept. 14, 1940 at age 17. They had four children Carol Jean Weir, Jerry (Jane) Wheat, Dennis Wheat, and Kathleen (Thomas) Mills. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Betty Wheat. Tootie had 9 grandchildren Jennifer (Steve) Copeland, Karessa (Brian) Wheeler, Sara (Phil) Brylowski, Andrew (Alicia) Weir, Elizabeth Wheat, Patti (Cole) Seeley, Logan (Susanna) Wheat, Katie (Kirk) Perschbacher and Colleen (John) Diaz. She had 13 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to being a homemaker, Tootie enjoyed gardening, decorating and birds. She loved spending time with family at her weekly Saturday breakfasts and over holidays and loved her dogs, especially Molly. She had a smile that lit up the room, and a sparkle that will shine forever. She will be very much missed. Visitation will take place from 12 1 p.m. on Friday Dec. 1st at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Galesburg Chapel, 145 W. Battle Creek St., Galesburg, MI 49053, where the funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. Rev. Len Schoenner will officiate with interment to follow immediately after the service in Roof Cemetery.
