Bostwick, Margaret L. (Afman) 1/14/1932 - 5/22/2021 Augusta Margaret L. (Afman) Bostwick, age 89, of Augusta went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, May 22, 2021. She was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on January 14, 1932, the daughter of Martinus and Martha (Ritsema) Afman. Margaret graduated from Plainwell High School with the Class of 1949 and furthered her education at Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina. She retired from Knappen Milling Company in 1994 after 26 years. Previously throughout the years Margaret worked at TransAmerica Insurance in Battle Creek, Nooney's Drug Store, Radio Station WVOC, and Gull Meadows Farms. Margaret married Earl Glaydon Bostwick at Plainwell Baptist Church on October 13, 1950; he sadly preceded her in death on May 22, 2012. She is survived by her children, David (Betty) Bostwick of Georgia, Douglas (Karina) Bostwick of Augusta, Dawn (David) Wendzel of Richland, Dean Bostwick of Augusta, Ruth Bostwick of Galesburg, and Dwight (Laurie) Bostwick of Minnesota; her special, adopted Malaysian daughter May Lai Loo and her husband, Eng Chong Lim and children, Eugene and Maggi of Illinois; her grandchildren, Eric (Michele) Bostwick, Kim (Stephen) Boyd, Shannon (Jack) Fritz, Jason (Corie)Wendzel, Justin (Kelly)Wendzel, Jared (Ashleigh) Wendzel, Jacob (Alicia) Bostwick, Joshua Bostwick, Nicholas (Kayla) Bostwick, Peter Bostwick, and Rachel Bostwick; her great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Catherine, Joshua, Lydia, Emily, Glaeden, Kiersten, Corrina, JD, Mary Jane, Lily, Tessa, Faith, Coleman, Brekan, Leyton, Jehnsen, Noel, Samuel and Alayna; her brother, Robert "Bob" (Hilda) Afman; brothers-in-law, Royce (Goldie) Cosgrove and Burton Cave; and several nieces & nephews. Margaret was also preceded in death by brothers, Fred (Martha) Afman and William "Bill" (Mary) Afman; her sisters, Marian Cosgrove, Bea (Bob)(John) Gren-Bailey, Geradine Cave; an infant sister; and a sister-in-law & her husband, Kent & Evelyn Wray. Margaret was always very active within her church. Whatever church they attended, Margaret would get very involved, teaching Sunday School (over 70 years), directing the choir, and playing the piano and organ. In her later years, she enjoyed bird watching. Her most enjoyable Sunday School class was the "Ladies Friendship Bible Class" at Northeastern Baptist Church which she taught for over 25 years. This class brought many years of Bible teaching and deep friendships. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 2nd at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel, 9170 East D. Ave. (M-89) Richland. The family will also receive friends 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 3rd at the Northeastern Baptist Church, 6536 East G. Ave (@ Gull Road) Kalamazoo, where services to celebrate her life will begin at 2:00 p.m., Thursday. Interment will follow at Day Cemetery in Ross Township. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan and/or the West Michigan Cancer Center.
