Margaret Bodnar, age 89 of Comstock, MI passed away at home surrounded by her family on March 5, 2017. Margaret was born on February 5, 1928, in Cleveland, OH, the daughter of the late Steve and Helen Dudas. In 1947, she joyfully married Andrew Bodnar who preceded her in passing. She was also preceded in death by two sisters and eight brothers. Marge and Andrew made their home and raised their children in the Kalamazoo area. She was a fun-loving, cheerful encourager; a caring woman who never hesitated in giving of herself to anyone in need. She loved the holidays and always made them special. Margaret was proud of her Hungarian heritage and it reflected in her baking and cooking skills. She was imaginative and allowed her children to express their creativity. She enjoyed teaching and taught her children how to write, draw, sew and work with any type of material. She dedicated her time to managing her home and family. Margaret could be sassy and never lost her ability to answer a question with a quick witted response. She kept up with the times and stayed current with politics, world affairs and music. Margaret was loved by all who knew her. She is survived by her children, Paul (Yvonne) Bodnar, Bruce Bodnar, Barbara (Mike) DeCoe, Rebecca (Roger Gavan) Bodnar, Peggy (Jason) Bodnar; grandchildren, Janet (Tobin) Bannister, Lindsey (Aesa) Lesicki, Amy Bodnar, Corey (Anne Ryan) DeCoe, Chelsea (Brian) Downing, Emme Bodnar; great-grandchildren, Lauren and Kate Bannister, Andrew and Elaina Lesicki, Brodin and Emily Martin; two sisters, Madeline (Jerry) Trautman and Stella Cook; she was also Grandma to five step-grandchildren, twelve step-great-grandchildren, four step-great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Sister Margot Eder, for the kindness and care that she showed to Margaret which turned to friendship. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Private family interment will be held at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, c/o the Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home.
