Lois Esther Scott, age 87, of Portage, Michigan passed away August 12, 2017 of natural causes. Lois was gracious, generous and kind, never having met a stranger. She was referred to as Mother, Mom or Aunt Lois as she loved her family with a beautiful, unconditional love. However, her favorite name was Mimi to her seven grandchildren. Lois loved her family, friends and animals of all kinds, and one of her favorite places was in her lovely flower garden. Born in Zeeland, MI to E.W. and Lena Price, she married Clyde D. Scott in Big Rapids, MI, on August 11, 1956. She received her BS degree from Central Michigan University and her MA degree from Ball State University. She is survived by her younger sister, Eunice Beeman of Spring Arbor, MI and sister-in-law, Sally Scott of Boyne City, MI, as well as her children, son, Ronald L. Scott and wife Tamara of Zeeland, MI, their children, Tyler, Joshua and Lindsey, daughter, Karen D. Smith, husband Jeffrey, of Midlothian, TX, their daughter Madison, daughter, Suzanne Scott of Portage, MI, her children Alexa, Tabitha and Isabella and her daughter-in-law, Robyn Scott, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is proceeded in death by her husband, Clyde D. Scott and son, Kevin D. Scott, in addition, her parents and siblings, William M. Price, Mary Price Bennet, Lenore Price Grant, Ruth Price Waite and Paul W. Price. Service will be held at Portage Free Methodist Church, 1715 W. Centre Ave., Portage, MI on Saturday, August 19, 2017, with visitation at 4:00 pm and service at 5:00 pm. A family graveside service at Fort Custer in Battle Creek, MI will be held Monday, August 21, 2017. Donations may be made to either Portage Free Methodist Church or Hospice of Holland. Lois was an active member of Portage Free Methodist church until she moved to her new home at Lakeside Vista in Holland, MI. The family wishes to thank family and friends for all of your encouragement during this challenging season. We extend a special thank you to all of her wonderful caregivers at Lakeside Vista and Hospice of Holland.
